UX UI - From UX Research to UI Prototyping

Mobile app for backpackers travelling in Argentina
UX Research, Interviewing, UX Testing, UX Wireframing, UI Responsive Design, UX Prototyping
(Summary in English - part 1/5)

At the beginning of this project, there was no specific product required yet. The project consisted finding out how could we improve the experience of backpackers in Argentina through a digital solution. For that reason, deep research about the users was needed first.

First techniques implemented:
-  Research map, including all the information about backpackers we could find on the internet, subsequently completed and iterated with new information coming from our interviewed users.
-  Proper definition of our target.
-  Interviews script writing, including categorized questions about various topics regarding backpacking trips.
-  Interviewing

(part 2/5)

After the interviews, we passed to analysing all the results by:
-  Transcribing the interviews
-  Defining topics for the most frequent types of answers and using color coding.
-  Analysing the transcripted information by highlighting the useful answers using the color coding chosen.
-  Creating an Affinity Diagram, to re-group all the answers by user and by category.
-  Keep iterating the Research map.
-  Creating an Empathy Map, to define even more our model user and understand their characteristics and needs.
-  Defining the main problem to solve from a User Point of View ([users] need a way to… because… ).
-  Brainstorming about How might we solve that issue.
Definition of a specific solution (What is it? For what is it? For whom is it? How does it solve the problem?)

(part 3/5)

We continued working on the:
-  Creation of the main Task Flow
-  Creation of the UX Flows for the complete experience
-  Design of the first UX Wireframes first in low and then medium fidelity.
-  Creation of the digital interactive prototype for UX testings.

(part 4/5)

Further on, we developed:
-  The UX Testing Script + tasks definition
-  The UX Tests, with the interactive prototype with possible users.
-  Analysis of the results of the UX Testings
-  Iteration of the wireframes and interactions.

(part 5/5)

Finally, we concluded with:
-  More UX Testings
-  More Iterations
-  Defining next steps for the complete development of the app (as there was a deadline for the academic project that took 3 months).
-  UI Design approach (only shown in some key wireframes, as this wasn’t the main purpose of the project).
